Day 19 of 40: My Mom, She’s Strong

Today is Day 19 of 40.

Happiest of Mother’s Day to my very own amazing Mom!  Photo time!  Take a look below.

——————————————————————————————————————————————

What if we did this for today?  But what if we did it for 40 days?!

{If you’ve heard my rant about this then scroll passed this to today’s account below the (*******) line}

Our goal for 40 days is to strengthen and nourish our spirit, soul and body.  Sounds so sophisticated and a little boring to me…  but what if it got kind of specific…  and…  what if it kind of worked?!!?

We create (Do you need the definition too?  Because I did!  So I looked it up for us!)

create:  (verb)  cause (something) to happen as a result of one’s actions

This drives me to become aware of what I am actually creating.  I’m REEEAAALLY good at creating a grumpy attitude, a negative outlook on life, an overwhelming feeling, 30 extra pounds, irrational thinking….  I am just one talented woman.  You too?  {Big sigh}

But what if we became more intentional about what we were creating each day?!

What if we did these three things each day?!

  1. Create conversations with God by talking to Him (prayer) and/or studying the Bible.
  2. Create smiles, memories, feelings, giggles, and moments with people by taking the time to stop and be in the moment.
  3. Create fuel for our body with the foods we choose.

For my own life, I notice that I start going into a spiral of the “blues” then slowly but surely off track when I start hiding from God, from people and hiding IN my pantry….  {Anyone else do that too?!}

Today’s Life with Jamye

Day 19 of 40.

1. {Spirit}

I woke up three times last night–probably because Benjamin wanted to wish me his very first Mother’s Day!  😉  11:30, 2 am and 6 am.  He did it!  He was the first one to wish me a 2017 Mother’s Day.

Robert tried to console him at the 2 am mark but that didn’t work.  Needless to say, nights like these help us praise God for the fact that Benjamin actually sleeps through the nights now!  (Well, except last night, LOL)

I got to spend some time on the bed reading the Bible and listening to some worship music while the kiddos and Robert made breakfast. Then off to church we went! Such a beautiful morning with these mamas I’m in community with at church! 😍

2. {Soul-Mind, Will, & Emotions}

My Mom, Glenda Buckley, is one of the most beautiful, God-honoring and delightful woman.  She is a mere Proverbs 31 woman.  A woman of great excellence and determination, yet behind this excellence is the sweetest, sensitive and delicate of a woman.

My mom has taught many of things. You might think it to be taught in strategic lessons but no. She taught me the priorities of life by my observation of how she lived. She spent her time with such priorities:

1) She spent time with God. No questions asked. She studied the Bible, she prayed and she made a commitment lead and serve in the local church.

2) She lived with a deep respect for my dad, her husband. She honored him, giggled with him, and centered our family around him.

3) She was committed to motherhood. Not only is having three kiddos tough, she then got pregnant with my twin and I. My mom is a whopping 5 lbs and she carried our 16 pounds total weight to almost full term in that tiny frame. What a woman!

She taught me so many amazing things in life but the seeds that sustain for eternity is what carries on in my heart and soul: to live every day surrendered and ready to serve my God, my husband and my children. While I often fail at them miserably, I then get to sink into the grace He’s given me in such appointed positions. She taught me to never stop trying.

My mom will be the first to tell you she’s not perfect but I can attest to the fact that I have the most incredible mother for me–and the most perfect Grandma for our kiddos.

When I stepped over from a wife to both a wife and mama, she stayed with us for about a week after each baby was born so that I wouldn’t sink into a mess of a woman. I needed her. She served me selflessly as we passed the newborn back and forth throughout the nights. She made us our meals, helped with laundry and dishes. She has been there for all three of the transitions to entering a new child into our family.

She’s knows me. We’re close. She is not just a respectable woman and my mom, she’s my bestest of friends. I wouldn’t know what life would be like without her. She’s quirky, funny, sweet and sassy.

Thank you mom for being the woman that you are. You are strong.  I am SO blessed to have you as my mother. You are one exceptional woman to live up to!

I love you! Happy Mothers Day!! 😘💞

3. {Body}

What can I say?! It’s mother day!

Breakfast made by Robert and the girls… chocolate chip pancakes and turkey bacon.

Salad and chicken at my brother and sister in laws home with my family

Pizza and salad for dinner with my beautiful beautiful Mother in Love

and yes, we’re planning for ice cream tonight! 😬

Happy Mothers Day to all of you woman who teach, friend, support and help every “child” (young or old), to be all that God has designed for them to be. You are amazing! Thank you for being you!!

Here are a few more pics of my sweet day today as a mama…. goodness, I feel so honored and blessed to with this best for me!  This family of mine is a true reminder of what STRENGTH really is. I love them. So. So. So. Much. {Robert did well today! ☺️😉😘}
