Day 22 of 40: Is it a good sign that I’m….

Today is Day 22 of 40.

What if we did this for today?  But what if we did it for 40 days?!

{If you’ve heard my rant about this then scroll passed this to today’s account below the (*******) line}

Our goal for 40 days is to strengthen and nourish our spirit, soul and body.  Sounds so sophisticated and a little boring to me…  but what if it got kind of specific…  and…  what if it kind of worked?!!?

We create (Do you need the definition too?  Because I did!  So I looked it up for us!)

create:  (verb)  cause (something) to happen as a result of one’s actions

This drives me to become aware of what I am actually creating.  I’m REEEAAALLY good at creating a grumpy attitude, a negative outlook on life, an overwhelming feeling, 30 extra pounds, irrational thinking….  I am just one talented woman.  You too?  {Big sigh}

But what if we became more intentional about what we were creating each day?!

What if we did these three things each day?!

  1. Create conversations with God by talking to Him (prayer) and/or studying the Bible.
  2. Create smiles, memories, feelings, giggles, and moments with people by taking the time to stop and be in the moment.
  3. Create fuel for our body with the foods we choose.

For my own life, I notice that I start going into a spiral of the “blues” then slowly but surely off track when I start hiding from God, from people and hiding IN my pantry….  {Anyone else do that too?!}

Today’s Life with Jamye

Day 22 of 40.

Yes, I skipped yesterday but let’s pretend that didn’t happen.  Let’s just virtually high-five for grace and let’s move on to today! 😉

1. {Spirit}

God and I were “on the go” today.  Literally, I don’t think we settled back home today until 6 pm.  It was out the door for drop off by 8:00 a.m. and home for bed time routine at 6:00 pm….  I went out to run errands (alone…praise Jesus for alone time!!!!) and I came home to Robert having the kiddos in bed, dishes done, and a warm bubble bath with tea ready for me (actually, not warm bubble bath because we don’t have a bathtub—that’s for another story—but the rest of it he DID DO!!!!)  What a guy!

So God and I were on a mission today.  Literally, going from task to task together.  Ever been in that season with Him?  A season where you can’t just sit and sink into the Word of God and study Scripture together but where you two are ON THE GO!  While we can’t obviously live like this, it’s delighted when it does happen.

I enjoyed getting a lot done with Him.

2. {Soul-Mind, Will, & Emotions}

I didn’t get a chance to blog yesterday but that’s okay, right?!  Grace, grace and more grace.  Today I hardly ever sat down.  There was so many tasks to accomplish, calls to make, appointments to schedule, and people to spend time with!

So let’s talk about those people.

This afternoon the kids and I got to spend time at a birthday party.  It was such a delight to let the kiddos play while I listened to stories, watched parents worry and laugh, and delight in the short conversations with peer parents.  Some of those conversations were quirky and quick, while others were full of history and stories of childhood years.

It’s amazing to think you “know” someone… and then be revealed to a whole other level of who they really are.  Quite beautiful.  I feel like it gives another deep dimension to someone’s presence.  Ya know, being able to put yourself in their shoes.  Listening to their stories.  Then listening to how they were bullied as a kid, or worked at the age of 11 because their family didn’t have enough money…  Stories that just give you instant respect for what others have been through and are where they are today because of the choices that they’ve made.  It’s really just beautiful.

These conversations are quick.  But really, I don’t think there’s any other way to have them at this season of life.  At least not when interrupted by a 4 year old staring at me for feedback on the current kid cosmo face painting image.

What. A. Day.

Way too much sugar, way too many sweets, and way too much for one mama to eat herself!  I’m joking I’m joking…  I only ate ONE cookie and ONE slice of pizza, although second servings were silently screaming for me.  I flexed my self control that time and said “no” to the silent offers of the cookie, candy, and chips just laying there. 😉

But let’s talk about one sign that must mean I’m getting stronger.  It’s this.  I’m planning.

It’s a good sign that I’m planning!

Yes, I know that sounds pathetic but it’s what makes my world go round.

I spent a majority of yesterday balancing our budget, crunching our numbers, listening to Dave Ramsey’s podcast, etc.  Then I dove into the summer calendar and got my Mama Mojo on!  Yes, that’s lingo for me attempting to be SUPER MOM and plan The BEST SUMMER EVER again for this year.

I pretty much nailed that last year.  But, last year I had two potty trained kiddos.  This year?  I have a BABY so I’m starting with a plan. 🙂  I’m sarcastic with you about being super mom because compared to most moms, it’s not so super, but to me and our family, going without a constant TV on is a big win for me and us!  Really, it just means so much because it’s the fact that I’m planning out our 9 full weeks of summer together which means that I am getting back to how God made me. I enjoy stewarding my time, money, energy, kiddos, and relationships well for His glory.

I’m enjoying it.  A LOT.

A bit nerdy.  A bit weird.  But a whole lot of ME!

How do you know that you are functioning in your best self?  Maybe yours isn’t planning but maybe it’s something else.  There’s usually a sign or behavior that reveals that we are functioning in our “flow” of life.

I think this might mean that we are getting stronger.  Unnoticeable in the day in and day out but nonetheless, getting stronger.

I’ll take it!  You too?!  😉

3. {Body}

So I haven’t been tracking my food lately but I have been intentionally feeding my cells with nutrients.  I’ve been doing so by eating more veggies AND taking my Tumeric/Black powder combination, along with Brewers Yeast (for all my B-vitamins & more), and my Folate/B-12 sublingual supplement, probiotics, and Calm (magnesium) tea…  Oh, and another drink called Floradix (iron & herbs)…  You see a theme here??  Ha!  I’m trying to get my red cells flowing a bit better (whatever that means) so that I have more natural energy.  ……  I think it’s working!!  🙂  Why?  Because I’m planning!!  I didn’t say I was following my plan but I’m at least planning!  [Insert Blush Face]

But seriously…  I do have more energy and we’ll take it!

Hugs and high fives friends!

All my love,
