Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
Proverbs 3:9-10
This is the first scripture printed on Robert and my scripture confession sheet found in the shower (in a plastic bag so it doesn’t get wet). We have a list of about 15 scriptures that we speak over our life and our finances. We gathered those scriptures when God asked us to start getting out of our student loan debt. Our budget at the time did not seem to get us to where we wanted to be but we knew God could get us there. Tithing 10% of our income off of our gross was a big deal to us, and we knew it was a big deal to God. He was going to take care of us. We were just coming into agreement with Him.
If you haven’t read the story of our first miracle on December 30, 2012, read it at “Does God Really Answer Prayers?! YES!” As if that wasn’t a big enough miracle in and of itself, the Lord just kept the window of heaven open for us.
Before we got this miracle, things were looking horrible for us financially. It was as if there was a leach on our bank account. Our savings was depleted to pretty much nothing. We never had to go in debt but we didn’t have any savings left. We refinanced our house and found out that there were unknown supplemental taxes that we had to pay. Horrible!
However, this week God decided to do something about that. Not only were we gifted a car (paid in full), the Lord sent us a check in the mail. In fact, we received three different checks in the mail. I still don’t understand why we got the money but they were some pretty large checks equaling almost to exactly the amount of money that was taken out of our savings account! The Lord replenished us and gifted us with a surprise check in the mail! What a good God we serve!
I don’t know what your financial situation looks like, maybe it’s good, maybe it’s not. Either way, deciding to partner with God is the only way to go. It may not make sense to give 10% of the first of our incomes to the Lord but we didn’t make the rules. Nor do we hold everything in our hands, God does. God has every financial blessing you could need. Trust Him and take that step of faith.
In fact, TEST HIM!
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.
Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the
floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room
enough for it.
Malachi 3:10
I tell you this story only to give God 100% all of the glory in our situation. The enemy would love for me to be quiet and decide not to tell others about it. I can’t keep quiet about a God that is so good! Step into partnership with Him and start expecting Him to show up!
Thank you, Father, for radically blessing us! Thank you, in advance, for radically blessing the readers on this website. Open up the windows of heaven for their life and their finances. We love you and trust you!
In Jesus’ powerful name, Amen (Let it be so!)
